On 2 August 2026 a female pygmy hippo was born at the Toronto Zoo to Kindia, aged 20, and Harvey, aged 31. She had the run of her enclosure by the end of the day.

Pygmy hippos are endangered. Between 2,000 and 3,000 are left in the wild, which makes her about as rare as an animal gets.

She doesn't have a name yet. Until the zoo picks one, she's $TINYTANK.
